Boston Globe Nightlife Picks

BEST MUSIC WEEK Leading up to the announcement of the Best Music Poll winners, the Boston Phoenix’s outdoor concert series concludes tonight with a lineup heavy on Boston’s finest up-and-coming talent. Expect the punchy new wave synth rock of Bearstronaut, epic guitar anthems from breakout indie rockers Mean Creek, and a sexy dance party from synth-pop dance trippers Mystery Roar. 5 p.m. Free. June 10. Downtown Crossing.

SOULED OUT Despite (or maybe because of) its small size, funky neighborhood pub River Gods continues to host one of the most eclectic lineups of weekly themed DJ nights in Cambridge. Tonight DJ Big Missy serves up a few heaping platters of soul. “Souled Out is exactly what it sounds like,’’ says promoter Nate Phillips. “The night has been going on every month for a while and it is a fun mix of both popular and obscure soul from various decades.’’ 9 p.m. Free. June 11. River Gods. 617-576-1881.

MARIO LOPEZ He may have moved on to an abdominally glamorous career on “Dancing With the Stars’’ and “Extra,’’ but to us Mario Lopez, a.k.a. A.C. Slater from “Saved By the Bell’’ will always be engaged in an eternal battle against those uppity preppies and their giant cellphones. Saturday night, the buff host of “America’s Best Dance Crew’’ will be on the scene at the Estate, most likely judging your every dance move. Don’t let him down. 9:30 p.m. $20. June 12. The Estate. 617-351-7000.

SOLVENT It’s not every day that Toronto-based Ghostly International artist Solvent hits Boston. His latest, the glitchy, driving, electronic record “Subject to Shift,’’ is his first release in six years. He’ll perform at Middlesex alongside Boston scene standouts #1 Dad and DJ Fred Mertz and Andre Obin. 9 p.m. $5. June 13. Middlesex Lounge. 617-868-6739.
